Cooling Down

The temperatures are beginning to drop here in Northwest Ohio and I fully embrace it. I’m not great with the high heat and humidity of the summer months. I openly welcome the cool breezes that come with the changing colors of fall. Fall is a great time to snuggle up and read a good book or sit by the camp fire with friends and family. I don’t always get a chance to read, but I found time to read “Little Fires Everywhere” by Celeste Ng this summer. It was a delight to read. I especially enjoyed reading a story that takes place in Ohio. Ohio is not the typical backdrop for a scandalous drama.

I like to keep my fall decorating pretty simple. Fill a vase with fall florets and grasses, get some warm scented candles, and drape my chairs with cozy blankets. I have a fall wreath I like to use for the door next to the garage. This wreath by Terrain has a great texture and color for fall. Fall is a great time to use dried flowers and grasses in your bouquets. A mint colored vase like this one from Oka pairs beautifully with the warm colors of dried florals. I have several candles from Thymes and this one in this cute copper pot is adorable. Blankets are one of my favorite ways to add pops of color without the long term commitment. I have several blankets from Tartan Blanket Co. and they are my favorite place to shop for blankets and scarves. They have so many colors and patterns to choose from that you can find something for any space.

Here are some of my favorite items for fall:
