Our New Family Member

On May 14th we welcomed Faye Louise to our family. She came right on her arrival date, which was weird, and weighed a healthy 7 lbs. 9 oz. It has been a busy year getting ready for her arrival, healing from the birth, learning to take care of a baby, and acclimating to the new routines.

Before she was born I had a ridiculously long list of baby names. Each time I thought I had a good one it would get vetoed by either Don or I. Faye was originally a name I picked for her middle name, but I also liked the idea of using my mothers middle name Louise. My mother’s birthday was May 10th so it felt fitting. I kept trying different names, but I kept coming back to the name Faye. It is such a cute simple name and it felt like the one for her.

We are so happy to have her. She can create the biggest smiles I’ve ever seen, especially for someone with no teeth. I just transitioned her to her own room last weekend. She has been sleeping in a bassinet next to our bed since then. I think her and I were both ready for her to have her own room. I don’t think either of us were sleeping as well in the same room. I don’t love the “industrial fan” sound that her sound machine makes as much as her.

The weekend before I set up her new mini crib. It’s beautiful and perfect for the space. Stay tuned for a post on her room or the progress of her room.
