Faye’s Nursery
It felt like fate that Faye came when she did. Several things aligned and one of them was that I had painted her room before I found out we were pregnant. I did not plan to become pregnant and I was not trying to creating a baby’s room. I just wanted to paint that room another color. It was previously painted a dark purple that my husband picked out. Yes, you heard me correctly. I didn’t love the color and it didn’t go with the block print bedding I picked out. I am so glad I painted it before I was pregnant, because I felt so exhausted in my first trimester and my second trimester was around Christmas so I was just too busy.
I ended up painting the room Quite Moments by Benjamin Moore. It was part of the Benjamin Moore Color Trends Palette in 2022. That was after Covid when green was such a popular color. It’s such a beautiful blue green gray color and I wanted to use it somewhere. I really love the color with her brass mini crib.
I originally planned to get a full sized crib which would require removing the bed that was in the room. My husband thought it would be best to keep the bed in there in case he needed it to get some sleep. Ironically I was the one who ended up sleeping there after I started back to work for the first few weeks. She was still sleeping in a bassinet in our room. We also use that room as a guestroom so it was best we kept the bed for when we have guests come.
Keeping the bed meant we didn’t have room for a full sized crib and we would have to get a mini crib instead. I’m much happier with this outcome and we found a beautiful one on Namesake called the Winston. They only had a few mini crib options, but the Winston was perfect for her room. The crib can be converted into a bed for a toddler or into a twin bed. You need to purchase the conversion kits separately.
The only other item we had to have for her room was some kind of blackout curtains or shades. I decided to go with blackout Roman shades. I liked how the room felt larger with shades versus curtains and I liked that they didn’t touch the floor.
My current plan is to have a crib skirt and valance made in this beautiful fabric by Rebecca Atwood and to get a better looking ceiling fan. I put a ceiling fan on the mood board, but I really haven’t committed to one yet. I purchased a satin fitted sheet for her mini crib to keep her from loosing too much hair. I hoped to find an ivory one, but I could only find white. Luckily the white still looks pretty. I haven’t purchased a mobile because I’m not entirely sure it’s necessary. Right now she loves to look at the fan spinning and that is already in her room. I will also eventually need to get a new bed. The current one is a canopy style bed and the canopy part does not fit with the ceiling.

I found a nice set of rattan/wicker table lamps at Homegoods. I found a similar one for purchase at pottery barn and linked that one. My husband’s parents bought us a rocking chair and the warmies bear for Christmas. The warmies bear is really nice and smells like lavender even if its not heated. My husband and I like to smell it. The rocking chair was from Namesake and is no longer available. The rocking chair is currently in another room of our house. We don’t seem to feed her as much in her room, but that might change. For now her nursery is mostly done except for a few details that I’m still on the fence about.
Many of the items in the room are either vintage or not available. Here is a list of the items that are still available. Click on the image for a link to the product:
